Sherry Verstraete

Sherry has been involved at all levels with Pines of Peace since the doors opened in 1998. First as a family member when her father, William C. Benedict was the first resident.  This experience showed her family the difference between dying in peace, comfort and with dignity at a Comfort Care Home where the hospice philosophy is embraced and the death their Mother experienced 8 months earlier at a nursing home facility.  This positive experience led to a volunteer role, then to the Volunteer Coordinator position and eventually to her current position as Executive Director.  “Through work experience in Corporate America I’ve brought skills to enhance, to help, and  promote positive growth for Pines of Peace”.  “I love what I do, have an awesome staff, great volunteers, supportive board of directors and understanding husband – who could ask for more?”
